Received in the mail about two weeks ago a little link for a band from St Louis called Britches. They have been sandblasting their local scene for close to 18 months, and in September they released a 5 song demo. I can tell you that this dissonant experimental noise is something to behold, and impresses further with multiple listens. There is a unnerving element to this act, and its not the sudden guitar squalls or anguished screams - its the melody that bubbles underneath it all that surprises. The boys label Big Black and Pavement as two of their influences - serrating slackerdom then?
Check out the 5 song demo here.
