Zorch Unbelievable...

Those effervescent crazy hepcats from Austin, Texas - Zorch - have some new tunes in the form of their Cosmic Gloss/E.M.F. handmade cassette EP (via Insect Records). Its all cut-up sonic devilry, sonic confectionery mainlined into your eardrums, designed for dancing and diabetes. You can preorder the cassette here - quick, there's only 100 copies! (You can also get it straight from the horse's mouth...here!)

But that's not all in the crazy world of Zorch. They have developed a new website for their incessant aural doodlings to reside on, www.rawasfuck.com. In the near future they are planning to release their cover of Prince's The Black Album, plus there is a Spice Girls - that's right, SPICE GIRLS - cover project in the works.

They are ALSO doing a West Coast US tour. On Saturday they played in Los Angeles with SM approved Peter Pants!, plus played with the excellent Clipd Beaks on Sunday in Oakland. Tonight they hit Portland, Oregon, playing alongside the uber cool White Hinterland, and the summer tour continues right through to September, where they will join the likes of Doldrums and DD/MM/YYYY, amongst many others! Peter Pants Are Falling Down, Falling Down, Falling Down...

LA riot grrl outfit Peter Pants LA riot grrl outfit consists of a co-ed line-up with two girl singers and two handsome men holding down the bass and guitar. Nikki Godinez (guitar/vocals) and Lia Braswell (drums/vocals) met in Feb 2010 and were instantly bandmates in Ostrich Eyes. They have since found Michael Reyder (guitar) and Greg Shilton (bass/drums), having morphed into Peter Pants, and have just released Handsome Women, their new EP. Their influences and sounds are many - 'Streets Or No Streets' holds some of the Pretty Girls Make Graves style punk, whilst silly tunes such as 'Beaker' evoke the more obvious comparison to Dalston trio Trash Kit for their irreverence and mania. Overall, its a short (but sweet) garage punk album.

It was early on a Sunday morning at ATP - A Nightmare Before Christmas 2009. After downing a fair few, at 4am we decided to cook a curry. It was during the consumption of this drunkenly delicious breakfast treat that we decided to actually do something about the music we talk about all the time.

So we started a blog – and Sonic Masala was born. Now into its seventh year, the blog has spread out to call both Australia and the UK its home (and the rest of the world), and has expanded to include gigs, festivals and a record label under its black umbrella. Come on, eat the noize.

If an mp3 is up here, it's because we have been talking about it, and think the whole world needs to know more. It's there to give you a little taste. Then, if you like, check out the band live and spend all your hard earned cash on their records. If we've posted up an mp3 of your stuff and you're not too keen on the idea, let us know and we'll happily take it down pronto.
