Digging A Pharmaceutical Grave

Seattle's own garagers with a tinge of psych pop The Pharmacy released their Dig Your Grave 7" through Kind Turkey Records recently. As expected, it's pretty darn good. It's also a little schizophrenic. The A-side is where the action happens, all bombast and devil-may-care, whilst the two tracks on the B-side show a mellower act filled more with chagrin than sunny charm. It intrigues, and may bode well for their next foray into the long form.

Also, here is the vid for the title track - it's pretty cool! (Plus a wee bit NSFW, just in case you work in a church or somethin'...)

Hussy Fits

I have been harassed by this band called The Hussy. I like some vigorous promotion, as long as it isn't spam or remixes - man we receive some shit remixes over here... But this is something else. The demonic duo's LP Cement Tomb Mind Control (via Slow Fizz Records) is one crude, spiky, petulant son of a bitch that just doesn't know how to quit. Led by Bobby Hussy (the man behind Kind Turkey Records) and Heather Hussy, The Hussy are all about the scuzziest garage that you can find, and infusing it with enough diffident sleaze that you will get infected just by association. However, dont go thinking these are uppity cool fucks - no, they are a lovely duo from Madison, Wisconsin that just love to make fun, loud garage rock, and for that Im in love with them - even if they have given me a vast quantity of STI's. They don't linger either - its hot and sweaty action from start to finish, then they love you and leave you...but always with the promise of more good times. And that is all a little rock whore like me needs really...

These guys have played with a shitload of my favourite bands too - Black Lips, Woven Bones, Monotonix, Thomas Function, Heavy Times and Sic Alps... Nice work. Lastly, Bobby Hussy admits that there is a heavy dosage of Ty Segall influence on the album - and as you should have picked up over the past months, that 23 year old is the shit on Planet Masala, so consider me a fully fledged Hussy!

Cement Tomb Mind Control is out now.

Two Tears

New York's Two Tears is Kerry Davis of the legendary Red Aunts (Epitaph and Sympathy for the Record Industry). Kerry has been thrashing out her wares as Two Tears for a while now, having toured with SM faves Mark Sultan as well as The Donnas and Jon Spencer. This new 7" features 3 of Kerry's raddest garage rockers, recorded in 3 different continents (Europe, North America and Asia (Middle East)). Eat People is spiky, sweet and savage rock and roll. And from the horse's mouth - "After finishing you can't say it's good or bad. Don't like it? It's your own fault."

Two Tears will be spending 6 weeks in Europe touring with Dan Sartain in support of the new release during April and May.

Eat People 7" is available through Kind Turkey Records.

Trent's Tenants Ain't Foxin...

Label Kind Turkey Records are bringing out some sweet releases this month, none more so than the new 7" by Milwaukee's Trent Fox and the Tenants. It's five tracks of garage/pop/rock n roll with swagger. They have played with the likes of Nobunny, Jaill and Thomas Function, so their brand of sloppy garage rock is assured. I still cant get into the Smith Westerns - and believe me, Ive tried - and I feel that Trent Fox and the Tenants are what those upstarts should be, with a healthy devotion to the altar of Black Lips to boot.

The first 100 copies have a green and gold color scheme in honour of the NFC title (the Green Bay Packers hadn't yet won the Superbowl when the records went to the plant!) - yellow vinyl with green labels.
