Sacred Couplings on Ancient Land

I feel that 2011 is the year of the Sacred Bone, as there is nothing they cannot do! Another amazing release they have on their books is from Chile's The Holydrug Couple (from Santiago, a city I almost resided in as opposed to Brisbane at the beginning of the year...). The name they have chosen for the band is fitting, as their Ancient Land EP is one of those psychedelic trips that you want to take with a very close friend, preferably of your sexual persuasion. Not saying this is the Barry White of psych drone wigouts, but damn if Im not feeling it! The A-Side is taken up by the sublime title track, whilst the other two songs - 'Now' and 'Mountaintop' - show us the other facets to these Chilean soul brothers - cutting a swathe through the smoky haze with angsty guitars before taking the foot of the gas entirely to coast into the ether. Its great - unfortunately it appears to be sold out! No fear, Uncle Masala is here to offer you some solace...
