Sundelles Are Kissing The Coast

The Sundelles are not far away from launching their album Georgia Swan onto a largely unsuspecting public, and have another track for us to feast upon. 'Kiss The Coast' is indicative of this trio's greatest asset - their innate propensity to create laconic mellow jams a la Real Estate, yet infusing it with an effortlessness and sense of whimsy that the aforementioned band lack...maybe. They have played with the likes of Beach Fossils and The Soft Pack also, so my hunch is wavering towards the affirmative. Im yet to hear the new album, but the tracks are certainly leaning in that direction, which I have to say makes me happy, as this could be the soundtrack for a strung out morning after lazing in the sunshine...

Georgia Swan Can't Win

Led by Sam Sundos, The Sundelles combine the west coast vibes of their California roots with the loneliness of the East Coast which the band now calls home. Sundos formed The Sundelles, the name a nod to Phil Spector girl groups, in garages all over southern California.

The band wrote and recorded the songs for their debut album, Georgia Swan, in early 2010. This is the first time that their sound has crawled out of the garage, steering away from their lo-fi contemporaries and creating something lush, spacious, and polished; a sound that Sundos had been chasing since the founding of the band.

'Can't Win' is the first cut of the album, and has Matty McLoughlin from the Soft Pack playing lead guitar. It is an exercise in harnessing the purity at pop.

It was early on a Sunday morning at ATP - A Nightmare Before Christmas 2009. After downing a fair few, at 4am we decided to cook a curry. It was during the consumption of this drunkenly delicious breakfast treat that we decided to actually do something about the music we talk about all the time.

So we started a blog – and Sonic Masala was born. Now into its seventh year, the blog has spread out to call both Australia and the UK its home (and the rest of the world), and has expanded to include gigs, festivals and a record label under its black umbrella. Come on, eat the noize.

If an mp3 is up here, it's because we have been talking about it, and think the whole world needs to know more. It's there to give you a little taste. Then, if you like, check out the band live and spend all your hard earned cash on their records. If we've posted up an mp3 of your stuff and you're not too keen on the idea, let us know and we'll happily take it down pronto.
