Thank You for the Golden Worry
A quick reminder that Baltimore's Thank You drop their second LP Golden Worry at the end of this month. Out on Thrill Jockey the trio's distinctive incessant tribal cacophony of 2007's Terrible Two LP was one of my highlights of the year. Golden Worry seems a natural progression for the multi-instrumentalist three-piece, if the track 'Pathetic Magic' is anything to go by.
Pathetic Magic dropped as a limited 12" back in 2009 and also features on the new LP. Now you could be forgiven for thinking that its a little cheeky to include a track that's been around for two years on a new LP but it seems that Pathetic Magic is a corner stone to the album, the more direct and driven form of the track signaling the band's evolved direction for their collision of rhythm, melody, and noise. Golden Worry showcases a band growing in confidence, with vocals now far more prominent and are precisely interlaced, giving Thank You's new material even more hidden depth. Taste below and check out the beautifully shot vid for Birth Reunion.
